“At present, China’s 5g development has made great achievements. The total number of 5g terminals shipped has exceeded 100 million, and the number of 5g online users has exceeded 88 million. By the end of September this year, the number of 5g base stations in China will reach 600000. Such a large-scale network has brought huge power consumption and construction costs. How to reduce this part is the deterministic part of the challenges we are facing 。” Hu Kaiwei said, “on the other hand, the uncertainty of the business. It is not particularly clear what 5g business is really making money. We need to explore how to develop in the vertical application industry and how to excavate the first pot of gold. “

According to this, ZTE focuses its efforts on two aspects: to build a foundation for cutting expenditure at 2C end (facing network), and to open source for the future at 2B end (facing industry).

Hu Kaiwei said that the growth rate of 5g energy consumption is far more than that of traffic. Taking a domestic region with relatively good 5g development as an example, he said that 5g traffic accounted for only 2%, but 5g energy consumption accounted for 30%. After more extensive deployment of 5g network in the future, the problem of energy consumption will become more prominent.

In view of this, ZTE has launched a powerpilot energy-saving solution with AI as its core technology. This scheme is divided into three stages, starting from the basic energy saving. The so-called basic energy-saving is 5g energy-saving functions such as symbol turn off, channel turn off, carrier turn off and deep sleep. The second stage is based on AI. According to the current network load, the relevant energy-saving functions are opened adaptively, which greatly improves the working time of the energy-saving function and reduces the energy consumption of the base station. The last stage is also based on AI, which mainly focuses on AI According to the service characteristics, it actively conducts service navigation, and according to the flexible navigation strategy, it is oriented to network development, multi network cooperation and reducing energy consumption of the whole network.

Hu Kaiwei said that according to ZTE’s field test results, in the first stage of basic energy-saving stage, the energy-saving effect of 4G whole network is about 5%, and that of 5g whole network is saved by 10%. After adopting load-based AI technology, it will increase by 5% and increase by 5% based on service navigation. After opening ZTE powerpilot, taking a medium-sized city with 2000 stations as an example, it can save 25000 kwh in a single day for a year Save more than 7 million electricity bills.

At the same time, in order to reduce the cost of 5g construction, Hu Kaiwei said that 5g construction will soon be extended from indoor to outdoor. At present, the number of traditional Das stations in the three existing networks is about 1 million, of which single channel accounts for more than 85%. The existing DAS system does not meet the needs of 5g new digital room sub business, so it is urgent to revitalize and improve the performance of the site.

For this reason, he put forward some suggestions for 5g room branch office: “for new buildings, 5g digital room deployment should be adopted, with high starting point and high experience; for existing 4G digital room units, 4G distributed skin has been changed to 5g digital room division to realize 5g fast admission; in terms of traditional Das room division transformation, it is suggested to determine based on 4G historical traffic: under low and medium traffic, indoor multi partition scenario is preferred If the daily flow of a single station is more than 80GB, it is recommended to use digital room

ZTE EDAs solution does not need to carry out Das hardware transformation. It adopts software algorithm to use different signals from upper and lower floors to receive multiple signals. It adopts multi-channel link adaptive, multi-cell channel estimation and other patent technologies to overcome link imbalance and improve capacity. The channel tolerance threshold is 30dB, which can be used in a variety of indoor scenes. Therefore, the scheme has the advantages of improving performance, easy deployment and low cost At present, ZTE’s EDAs scheme has been put into commercial use in 10 provinces including Beijing, Shandong, Guangdong and Jiangsu.

In addition, ZTE has also launched an innovative SSB1 + X beam scheme. At present, the scheme has been deployed in Beijing, Guangzhou, Hunan, Sichuan and other high-rise buildings for commercial use and has been verified. On the basis of effectively maintaining horizontal coverage, ZTE improves the vertical coverage performance.

Open source for the future

Hu Kaiwei said that at present, the industry’s exploration of 5g business in the b-end is mainly focused on the leading enterprises in the industry, but “the solutions for the industry and leading enterprises are characterized by strong personalization and poor replicability, which may eventually lead to customization”. “I think the 2B exploration of leading enterprises represents the future development direction of 5g, and the first pot of gold in 2B market of operators is in small and medium-sized enterprises,” he said In other words, the future 5g 2B industry customers will be mainly small and medium-sized enterprises.

In fact, as of July 2020, there are 41.109 million enterprises in China, 99% of which are small and medium-sized enterprises. In the core demands of digital transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises, the core demands include the rapid construction of safe and reliable enterprise park network, agent construction and maintenance; data security isolation, not out of the park, simple and independent 5g network operation and maintenance rights, low-cost construction of enterprise park network, exclusive resources; the shortest path of data, direct business, and power guarantee.

“We found that a single board can meet these needs of small and medium-sized enterprises, without building a computer room, and can be directly inserted into the BBU. The service capacity provided can meet 80% of the small and medium-sized enterprises. It has 10Gbps traffic, can meet the concurrent operation of 640 4K cameras, or 20000 office users, or the access of 1 Internet collection equipment, which can meet the needs of more than 80% of SMEs. In addition, ZTE takes the lead in integrating the PRB based hard isolation slice with nodeengine. Hard Slicing Based on PRB does not need the cooperation of the core network, and is directly implemented on the wireless side. Combined with nodeengine, it can not only guarantee the quality of service of each service in the slice, but also guarantee the quality of slicing, so as to achieve simple and efficient service provision. Compared with the efforts based on the core network, it has greater autonomy and flexibility for QoS slicing, and different slices do not affect each other We will provide more diversified services and guarantees for small and medium-sized enterprises.
