1、 Independent power supply mode

Benefits of independent power supply

Independent power supply means that an independent security monitoring power supply is installed at the front end of each camera, which provides power supply for only one camera.

1. Simple maintenance and easy replacement of power supply

Because each camera has an independent security monitoring power supply, when the camera fails, it can quickly troubleshoot the failed camera. If a fault caused by the security monitoring power supply is detected, only a single fault power supply needs to be repaired or replaced.

2. Avoid paralysis of the monitoring system

Once the power supply system in the centralized power supply mode has problems and does not use UPS, the whole monitoring system will not work normally and fall into a state of paralysis. In the independent power supply mode, single or several cameras cannot work due to the failure of security monitoring power supply, so as to avoid the paralysis of monitoring system.

Lack of independent power supply

1. High cost

The cost sum of multiple independent security monitoring power supplies is generally higher than that of centralized power supplies with the same power output. This cost does not include the cable cost.

2. The probability of external force damage is higher

Because the independent security monitoring power supply is often close to the camera, it is more vulnerable to external damage factors such as sun, rain and lightning if it is outdoors. Therefore, select an outdoor dedicated independent security monitoring power supply, especially pay attention to the protection performance of the independent security monitoring power supply.

2、 Centralized power supply mode

Connect a 12V centralized power supply at the 220V power supply, and then connect it to the camera with 2 * 1.0 red and black power lines respectively. The 12V power supply distance shall not exceed 100m. Connect a single power cord connector, and then connect the single power cord connector with the monitoring camera power connector. Centralized power supply mode refers to the centralized power supply of 12V switching power supply to the front end load in the monitoring room or at an intermediate point. Compared with the independent power supply mode, the biggest difference is that one power supply can supply power to multiple cameras.

Centralized power supply mode is adopted, which is convenient for line laying, construction and management.

3. Low overall energy consumption

The actual engineering case shows that the total energy consumption of centralized power supply system is lower than that of independent power supply system.

Disadvantages of centralized power supply

1. Complex pre configuration

The surveillance camera needs a large starting power supply at the moment of starting, and the long-distance power transmission will cause loss. Therefore, the power of centralized power supply is not the sum of the power of all surveillance cameras. To adopt centralized power supply mode, engineers need to have a detailed understanding of the whole monitoring system in order to make a reasonable scheme.

(in fact, due to the large starting current at the moment of starting the camera and the loss of long-distance transmission in the project, the power required by the surveillance camera is not simply the sum of the rated power of all cameras. The correct way is to add the rated power of the cameras of the whole surveillance system and multiply it by 1.3 times, which is the actual power required by the camera, however After that, add about 30% loss; finally, add 30% allowance for future capacity expansion.)

2. There is a possibility of monitoring system paralysis

In case of problems in the power supply system under the centralized power supply mode without UPS power supply, the whole monitoring system will not work normally and fall into a state of paralysis.

3、 Poe power supply

Poe power supply mainly includes the following four modes:

1. Both switches and terminals support Poe

In this method, the POE switch is directly connected to the wireless AP and network camera supporting Poe power supply through the network cable. This method is the simplest, but it also needs to pay attention to the following two points:

① Determine whether the POE switch and wireless AP or webcam are standard Poe devices

② Carefully confirm the specifications of the purchased network cable. The quality of the network cable is very important. Poor quality network cable will cause the AP or IPC to fail to receive power or restart continuously.

2. The switch supports Poe, and the terminal does not support Poe

In this scheme, the POE switch is connected to the POE separator, which separates the power supply into data signal and power. There are two output lines, one is power output line and the other is network data signal output line, that is, ordinary network cable. The power output is 5V / 9 / 12V, which can match various non Poe power receiving terminals with DC input, and supports ieee802.3af/802.3at standard. The data signal output line, i.e. ordinary network cable, can be directly connected to the network port of non Poe power receiving terminal.

3. The switch does not support Poe, and the terminal supports Poe

In this scheme, the switch is connected to the POE power supply, which adds power to the network cable and transmits it to the terminal. This scheme is conducive to expand the original wiring network and has no impact on the original network.

4. Neither the switch nor the terminal supports Poe

In this scheme, the switch is connected to the POE power supply, then connected to the POE separator, and finally transmitted to the terminal. Schemes 3 and 4 are suitable for the transformation of traditional networks, that is, the original switch does not support Poe power supply, but wants to take advantage of Poe power supply.

In practical application, how should the network cable be connected? Many friends know about Poe power supply technology and know the power supply line sequence problems such as 1236 or 4578. Therefore, in case of wrong connection, it may lead to serious consequences such as equipment burning.

The POE power supply standard requires Poe switches, Poe power supply modules (POE power suppliers) and other PSE devices to support one of the 1236 and 4578 power supply line sequences. Of course, the latest 802.3at4pair standard needs to support both. The requirement for POE power receiving equipment is to support two power supply modes at the same time.
