The Internet of things was mentioned in Bill Gates’s book “the road to the future” in 1995. Now it has been integrated into our lives, and its related technologies are strongly supported by the state. It is closely related to 5g, big data and other technologies of new infrastructure, and its development ushers in broad prospects! So, how to understand the Internet of things?
From the Internet of things around us
Bike sharing is an application of Internet of things. There are two ways to unlock bike sharing, one is through Bluetooth, the other is through the cloud. Unlocking through the cloud has experienced such a process: the mobile phone scans the code to obtain the location information of the car, and then transmits the information to the cloud, and the cloud sends signals to the lock through GPS, 2G or 3G to unlock. This process is a typical “object control” process.
The familiar Fengchao express cabinet is also a typical Internet of things application. The process of unlocking the express cabinet: the mobile phone scans the QR code to get the information of the express delivery, and then sends it to the cloud. After the cloud receives it, it knows which cabinet it is, returns the information, and opens the corresponding lock.
In addition to the above two examples, smart home is a common example of Internet of things applications around us.
The Internet of things includes sensors, meters, intelligent devices, etc. on the basis of these devices, we can set some application logic, such as setting automatic alarm control: if the doors and windows of the home are opened between 12:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m., the alarm can be triggered, and the device flash and alarm information will sound, such as “someone intrudes! There’s an invasion! ” And so on.
What is the Internet of things
The above are some application examples of the Internet of things. What is the concept of the Internet of things?
The literal concept is “Internet of things”. The early Internet of things includes two things: RFID and ZigBee. Today’s Internet of things refers to the “Internet of things” composed of cloud, tube, side and end.
In the Internet of things, there is a platform responsible for data collection and sending instructions and other information. It is the cloud, such as Alibaba cloud’s Internet of things platform.
It supports all kinds of intelligent device communication channels, such as 5g, which is popular now. In the past, there were 2G, 3G, 4G, GPS and other related technologies, including wireless, wired, Ethernet, WiFi, Lora and so on.
Edge computing, the early Internet of things information transmission mainly through the cloud, all the terminal data to the cloud, and then through the cloud down, there will be two major problems
If the network is cut off, the equipment is out of control.
Security issues: all data are transferred to the cloud, there are security risks.
So edge computing, equipment should be shipped out. First of all, it can work normally without network or weak network. Secondly, for more confidential data, it can be calculated and processed locally at the edge without uploading to the cloud, which solves the problems of security and reliability.
It’s all kinds of terminals: sensors, meters, equipment, etc.
