Toshiba electronic components and Storage Devices Co., Ltd. (“Toshiba”) announced that it had started the shipment of “tb9058fng” samples. “Tb9058fng” is an on-board DC motor driver IC with Lin (local interconnect network) slave function, which can communicate with Lin 2.0 master IC of on-board network. This new IC is suitable for a variety of applications using LIN bus with 0.3 A output current, including on-board air conditioning (HVAC) damper control driver, and will start mass production in December 2019.

The new IC receives the position data of the motor rotation target through the external LIN bus, and then drives the motor to the target position.

Because this IC has the hardware logic of H-bridge motor driver and Lin communication function with enhanced checksum [1], there is no need for software development. It can detect overvoltage, overcurrent and overtemperature to prevent abnormal working conditions.

The operating temperature range of the new IC is – 40 to 125 ℃, which meets the requirements of automotive applications and will be certified by aec-q100.

Full hardware logic to simplify control;

-No software development required. Lin communication controls the motor.

Provide the industry’s lowest level [2] on resistance and power consumption for on-board air conditioning damper control driver;

-On resistance (high + low): 2.2 Ω (typical value)

-Power consumption: less than 10 μ A (sleep mode)

One bus can connect up to 16 slave nodes;

-16 node IDs can be set with the switch pin.

Multiple anomaly detection functions with flag output.

-Detect overvoltage, overcurrent and overtemperature.
