Nowadays, with people’s pursuit of high-quality life, smart home has been everywhere. Especially for many office families, the emergence of smart home makes life more convenient and is very suitable for modern people’s fast-paced life. But do you know how much a smart home device costs? Previously, the reporter learned that in a brand of smart home experience store, a complete set of smart home equipment will cost more than 300000, almost equivalent to a BMW three series car.
In fact, leaving aside the price of more than 300000, tracing the origin of smart home itself is only to meet the actual needs of users. Especially in various scenarios, all smart appliances can become a unified whole, so as to solve the personalized needs of users. At the same time, it is also necessary to independently learn users’ living habits and characteristics, and automatically realize all-round linkage. But in the early years, few enterprises or manufacturers reached such standards.
From the current development situation, the smart home market has always been in a tepid state. Although it is generally believed that there will be a lot of market space to explore in the future, there is still no reliable answer when smart home can really rise.
The voice of smart home is quite high, but there is still a certain distance from the outbreak
At this stage, the fundamental reason why smart home has not sprung up is that in addition to immature technology, the price is too expensive. After all, not many users can pay hundreds of thousands to replace or add smart home. However, in the final analysis, if the technology and industrial chain become mature, the price and cost will naturally reach a range acceptable to the public users.
Therefore, for ordinary users, they prefer to “piece together” one thing at a time. However, in the early stage of smart home development, immature technology led to the existence of “pseudo intelligence” in many smart homes. Some so-called smart apps were designed only for users to use, but ignored many details, such as users’ actual use experience, or smart home products between different brands could not be controlled by linkage, These problems have not been completely solved until today.
In our interview with people in the industry, we learned that almost from 2014 to 2018, the whole smart home industry has been in the stage of accumulating technology. Although the voice of the smart home industry has been high in recent years, few brands or manufacturers are willing to provide full scene services. From the perspective of time, Haier is doing well among household appliance enterprises. Its Haier Zhijia 001 experience center has successfully attracted many users to experience. It can be said that Haier’s move has also promoted the popularization of the smart home industry.
Of course, although few other home appliance manufacturers systematically provide whole house smart home solutions like Haier, they also arrange troops in their respective fields.
Smart home market competes for the Central Plains
According to reliable information, in addition to Haier, old household appliance enterprises such as Midea, Gree and Hisense are actively laying out their own smart home territory. In fact, before the rise of the concept of smart home, there were already a lot of home appliances in our family, and while we were constantly updating, our demand for home appliances was also growing. For example, remote switch air conditioners, water heaters, etc. if these appliances can meet these needs, there will be a great breakthrough in the user experience, which will be more favorable for occupying more market share. Therefore, the above household appliance manufacturers have added some additional functions to their products to add “intelligence”.
The reason why home appliance enterprises make such efforts is that they have a broad market prospect. After all, although the smart home market is still in the savings period, once it breaks out, it is bound to bring huge returns to these pioneers. According to the data, China’s smart home market has exceeded 100 billion yuan by 2018, and it is expected that China’s smart home market will exceed 500 billion yuan by 2023.
In addition to home appliance enterprises, two camps are also eyeing the smart home market, namely smart phone manufacturers and Internet enterprises.
Smart phone manufacturers are mainly led by Huawei and Xiaomi. Huawei and Xiaomi are two prominent giants in the mobile phone field. Huawei has a smart home system hi link, which has attracted many partners. The advantage of Xiaomi is that it has formed an ultra long household product line based on its strategic advantage of ecological chain. Especially based on the entry-level product of Xiaomi mobile phone, we can more effectively and directly link Xiaomi products, so as to greatly reduce the threshold of smart home.
In addition, on the side of Internet giants, Ali is the main representative. It is worth mentioning that Ali’s layout is also relatively complete, but mainly at the technical level. To this end, Alibaba has upgraded IOT to the fifth largest strategy of the group. Under the IOT scheme, Alibaba has formed an intelligent human settlement solution to provide developers with an integrated solution for the Internet of things for human settlement.
Especially at this year’s cloud habitat conference, Qian Xue, vice president of Ali, also showed Ali’s “3H strategy”. Ali used to be a 2h strategy: happiness and health. Now there is an additional home, which shows that Ali continues to add weight to the smart home scene. However, Ali is not interested in providing smart home devices or the system itself. Like other giants, Ali prefers to build an ecosystem or platform to occupy users’ home scenes, rather than simply making money by selling hardware or systems.
Should giants fight alone or together?
From the perspective of industry structure, Internet enterprises, home appliance enterprises and smartphone manufacturers have their own advantages and disadvantages, but future cooperation will certainly be greater than competition.
First of all, smart phone manufacturers have inherent advantages in terms of import. As long as home appliance enterprises choose to cooperate with mobile phone manufacturers, this inherent advantage will naturally transition to home appliance enterprises. In addition, smartphone manufacturers are still trying to enter the TV market in order to further consolidate the barriers to the import market through the advantages of large screen. In this way, more partners are naturally more willing to cooperate with mobile phone manufacturers, and then everyone takes their own profits.
The advantages of home appliance enterprises are also obvious. The core is in supply chain, products, technology and channels, which can not be caught up by mobile phone manufacturers or Internet enterprises overnight. Although everyone’s idea is to sell equipment first and then build a platform, due to the high market penetration, there are not many opportunities for latecomers to overtake in the corner.
Finally, let’s talk about Internet enterprises. In fact, Internet enterprises are the entrants who need partners most. After all, the technology they provide ultimately depends on hardware products. Although some enterprises also involve intelligent speakers and other import equipment, due to the fierce competition at the entrance and the fact that the other two camps are reporting to the group for heating, everyone should understand the ideal of “it is difficult to support a single tree”.
According to the analysis of professionals in the industry, the smart home industry chain is very long and will be a complex, decentralized and fragmented market. It is impossible for winners to take all. Different types of players will cooperate more than compete to provide users with smart home services. From this point of view, opportunities for cooperation between different camps will certainly continue to appear in the future.
In short, from the perspective of future development trend, the development of smart home will eventually enter the whole house smart stage. The whole house smart home scheme must have the strongest interconnection ability first. Only through multi-dimensional interaction can it meet the control needs of different family members in different scenarios. However, how to overcome or eliminate the estrangement between different brands at this stage may be a place for giant players to consider carefully in the next stage. After all, only by solving this problem, the real industry overlord may have the opportunity to appear.
