Service robot is a strategic emerging industry in China, which can not only cope with the rising labor costs and aging population, but also support and lead the development of related technologies and industries. At present, the industrialization of service robot at home and abroad is just beginning. It is worth studying how to seize the strategic development opportunity of service robot, make use of the advantage of backwardness, and form a service robot industry with international competitiveness. In this regard, Sidi think tank equipment industry research institute has carried on the elaboration and analysis.
Firstly, the status quo of the world service robot industry is analyzed. First, it is in the primary stage of the industry. There is a gap between China and developed countries in terms of cutting-edge technology and key parts. However, in terms of industrialization, the world is in the primary stage, and developed countries have no obvious advantages. The starting point is roughly the same. China should seize this opportunity and make use of the late developing advantages to seek a breakthrough. Second, the global market is developing rapidly. IFR predicts that 93800 global dedicated service robots will be installed during 2012-2015, with sales of US $16.3 billion. Third, the United States, Japan, South Korea, the European Union and other developed countries have carried out strategic deployment. Fourth, China’s household market has great potential.
Secondly, the existing problems in the development of service robot industry in China are analyzed. First, the key core components need to be broken through. Although the integration of prototype can be realized in China, it is urgent to overcome the key core components such as servo motor, precision reducer, servo driver, controller and so on, which have long depended on imports. Second, the construction of industrial support system is in its infancy. The construction of service robot industry support system in China lags behind in many aspects. Third, the industrial chain has not been effectively formed. At present, the domestic service robot enterprises are still in the initial development stage of “fighting alone”, and the degree of industrial integration is low.
Finally, some suggestions on the development of service robot industry in China are put forward. First, break through a number of key generic technologies and parts, and lay a solid foundation for industrialization. The second is to strengthen fiscal and tax policy support and give consideration to scientific research and industrialization. Third, cultivate leading enterprises and form industrial agglomeration. Fourth, strengthen top-level design and formulate industry standards and norms.
