On October 20, the operation monitoring and Coordination Bureau of the Ministry of industry and information technology released the economic operation of the communication industry in the first three quarters of 2020. The document shows that the scale of fixed broadband access users in China has increased steadily, and the number of Gigabit fixed broadband access users has increased rapidly. According to the statistics of the Ministry of industry and information technology, by the end of September 2020, the total number of fixed Internet broadband access users of the three basic telecom enterprises had reached 476 million, a year-on-year increase of 5.8%, a net increase of 26.82 million over the end of the previous year.

The data show that there are 445 million FTTH / O users, accounting for 93.5% of the total fixed Internet broadband access users. The number of fixed Internet broadband access users with access rate of 100Mbps and above reached 420 million, accounting for 88.2% of the total users, an increase of 2.8 percentage points over the end of last year; The promotion of Gigabit broadband services was accelerated. There were 4.25 million fixed Internet broadband access users with access rates of 1000Mbps and above, a net increase of 3.38 million over the end of last year (870000).

In terms of communication capacity, broadband network construction was accelerated, and the proportion of optical fiber ports continued to increase. By the end of September 2020, the number of Internet broadband access ports in China had reached 937 million, a year-on-year increase of 2.6%, a net increase of 21.04 million over the end of the previous year. Among them, the number of FTTH / O ports reached 867 million, a net increase of 30.36 million over the end of the previous year, accounting for 92.5% from 91.3% at the end of the previous year. Meanwhile, the total number of various digital subscriber line (xDSL) ports decreased to 6.893 million, a net decrease of 1.31 million over the end of the previous year.

In terms of regional distribution, the penetration rate of fixed broadband access users of 100m and above is the leading. By the end of September, there were 182.77 million, 103.46 million, 108.18 million and 25.71 million fixed broadband access users of 100Mbps and above in the East, central, West and northeast respectively, accounting for 87.8%, 88.9%, 88.1% and 89.8% of the total fixed Internet broadband access users in this region respectively. The proportion of Northeast China is ahead of the country. The difference between the highest proportion and the lowest proportion of fixed broadband access users above 100m in all provinces is 17.2 percentage points.
