Driven by the recovery of the global TV market, the price of large liquid crystal display (LCD) panel hit a new high this year.
Recently, market research firm omdia said that in addition to 43 inch products, the price of LCD TV panels (32 inch to 65 inch) reached the highest level of this year in July. Among them, the price of 32 inch panel increased the most. The unit price of 32 inch panel reached $39, up 11% from last month; The unit price of 43 inch panel increased by 8% over the previous month; To $77, the unit price of 50 inch panel increased by 7% to $96; The prices of 55 inch panel and 65 inch panel were $118 and $177 respectively, up 7% and 5% respectively from the previous month.
Industry insiders said that the recovery of TV demand promoted the rise of LCD panel price. Governments around the world have taken steps to boost the economy in order to overcome the recession caused by the spread of New Coronavirus. In addition, the retaliatory consumption after the epidemic control also began to promote the market rebound. TV manufacturers have launched various activities and promotions to offset the contraction in TV demand in the first half of this year. At the same time, due to the increase of office hours at home, consumers have also increased their consumption of TV.
Market research firm trendforce predicted in July that TV shipments will reach 241.1 million in 2020. This figure is higher than the forecast of 205.2 million in March. Trendforce’s revision of TV shipments seems to be based on expectations of a recovery in the TV market in the second half of 2020.
