Many LED lighting enterprises have relevant modular products, but they basically do their own work. It can be said that they are “diverse”. Realizing the interchangeability and universality of different LED module products has always been a topic of great concern in the industry. With the increasingly obvious trend of LED modularization, the “Warring States” situation of LED module products has ended, Realizing the standardization of the overall LED module industry has also become more urgent and has become an important manifestation of mastering the market voice. Thoughts on the attack of “zhaga”
Zhaga is an industry group established by LED lighting companies around the world to realize the compatibility and interchangeability of light engines through standardization, so as to accelerate the wide introduction of LED technology. It was established in February 2010 by nine companies, including acuity brands of the United States, Cooper Lighting of the United States, OSRAM of Germany, Panasonic of Japan and Royal Philips Electronics of the Netherlands, It mainly defines a stable design platform for lamp manufacturing enterprises by standardizing the interface (mainly the interface) of light engine, so as to avoid a large number of non compatible light engine products circulating in the market. At the just concluded “light + building 2012” (the world’s largest international lighting and building technology exhibition) in Frankfurt, products meeting the LED light engine interface standard “zhaga” were unveiled for the first time, and more than 30 companies exhibited products supporting the standard.
The popularity of zhaga triggered the discussion and opinion collision of guests at the meeting. “Zhaga has come quietly, and its future impact on us now needs to be seriously considered.” Pei Xiaoming said that there are many patent mines hidden in zhaga’s standards. Joining them may not be able to bypass the downstream application patent traps and standard barriers set by enterprises formulating the specifications. If they do not join the alliance, the product form is incompatible with alliance members, and the market share is shrinking.
So how to face this situation? At present, China has made plans and actions in the research and formulation of relevant standards, such as the relevant standard projects of the State Key Laboratory for joint innovation of semiconductor lighting (Preparatory), the “LED lighting standard optical components” project organized by Guangdong semiconductor lighting industry joint innovation center, etc. Wang Xiwei said that in the face of zhaga, it does not necessarily take a different path from it. It can join and guide its development. Xiao Guowei said that semiconductor lighting is an emerging industry with rapid technological development, which is destined to be difficult to formulate mature standards at a certain stage, but this does not hinder the formulation of some standards at each stage, which requires the cooperation of all forces.
