Murata develops chip equipped with NXP

Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “the company”) has developed a chip equipped with NXP semiconductors NV (hereinafter referred to as “NXP Corporation”) that supports UWB (1) – Trimension™ SR150 (hereinafter referred to as “SR150”) Ultra-small UWB communication module “Type 2BP” (hereinafter referred to as “2BP”), and an antenna equipped with NXP’s Trimension™ SR040 (hereinafter referred to as “SR040”) and Bluetooth® LE (2) chip – QN9090 Built-in small UWB communication Module “Type 2DK” (hereinafter referred to as “2DK”). The company plans to start mass production of 2BP and 2DK from January 2022 and July 2022, respectively.

The UWB communication method uses a very wide frequency band, and can detect high-precision position information at the level of several centimeters that is difficult to achieve with traditional wireless communication technologies. In addition, since this communication method uses the timing of sending and receiving signals to detect the location, it is also highly secure against third-party malicious attacks such as relay attacks. Due to this feature, this communication method is also considered for use in non-contact payment systems requiring high security in the IoT field, as well as smart keys for residences and hotels, etc.

2BP is an ultra-small UWB communication module based on the high-frequency design technology accumulated by the company in the development of Wi-Fi™ and Bluetooth® module products so far, as well as its unique high-density mounting and resin packaging technology, and is equipped with It has created a UWB-supporting chip of NXP, which has made great achievements in the UWB market. 2BP is equipped with semiconductor switches, clocks, and filters to simplify the process of incorporating UWB functions in IoT devices. In addition, 2BP is also equipped with three antennas, so it is also very suitable for high-precision position detection between UWB devices realized by 3D AoA(3) technology.

Nexperia launches a full range of low current Zener diodes

Basic semiconductor specialist Nexperia has announced the launch of a full range of low-current Zener diodes. The 50 µA Zener Diode family is available in three different surface mount (SMD) package options, ultra-miniature discrete flat no-lead (DFN) packages, and AEC-Q101 qualified parts, giving customers ultimate choice and flexibility. Specified at low test current (50 μA), these high efficiency diodes are ideal for low bias and portable battery-operated devices in mobile, wearable, automotive, and industrial applications.

“The DFN1006BD-2 packaged part with side-wettable flanks (SWF) addresses various areas such as size, performance and robustness, and matches many different applications,” said Paula Stümer, product manager at Nexperia. “Our DFN Technology covers a wide range of 1.8 V to 75 V, offering the industry’s broadest portfolio of 50 μA Zener diodes. However, parts are also available in leaded SMD styles, giving customers flexibility of choice.”

40 new types per package option covering nominal operating voltages from 1.8 V to 75 V, the range is available in ultra-thin surface mount SOT23 (BZX8450), SOD323 (BZX38450) and SOD523 packages (BZX58550) as well as the leadless DFN1006BD – 2 (BZX8850S) package. Zener diodes have non-repetitive peak reverse power dissipation of ≤40 W, total power dissipation of ≤300 mW, and low dynamic resistance. They are also available as Q Portfolio parts and are qualified to AEC-Q101 and ISO/TS16949 automotive quality standards. As more and more non-automotive applications require additional quality-related services such as PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) and extended service life, these Q-portfolio parts fill the need.
