With the rapid development of 5g, 700MHz, known as the “golden band”, is taking advantage of 5g, and the industry is gradually becoming mature. China’s 5g strategy: from following to leading

Tao Hongbo said: “at present, it has entered the 5g era. With the rapid deployment of new infrastructure, the integration of 5g and emerging technologies such as industrial Internet, big data and cloud computing has accelerated, and the edge of 5g industry has gradually expanded, opening up new industries, new formats and new models.” Compared with 4G and 5g systems, 5g is no longer limited to the traditional business model, but more in the information and intelligent products. In the future, industry application will be one of the main application points.

Looking back on the development of communication in China, in the 2G era, GSM in Europe and CDMA in the United States dominate the world; in the 3G era, TD-SCDMA and CDMA-2000 dominated by China and the United States stand out, becoming the three major 3G standards in the world with W-CDMA dominated by Europe, realizing “one third of the world” in China; in the 4G era, TD-LTE standard dominated by China and fdd-lte standard dominated by Europe And TD-LTE standard became mainstream for the first time.

Based on the 5g era, Tao Hongbo said with emotion: “starting from the 5g spectrum strategic planning, China has occupied a corresponding leading position in the world.” In the process of 5g spectrum planning, industrial globalization, international roaming and interference of important radio services in China are taken into account, so that 5g system can coexist with other radio services. In addition, we have also worked out radio frequency technical indicators and special band protection limits to protect Beidou, radar, satellite and other systems in use.

5g era has come, scientific and effective use of spectrum resources

As we all know, in the development of medium and low frequency band (below 6GHz), the results of 5g test frequency obtained by three major operators were announced at the end of 2018: China Telecom obtained 5g test frequency resources of 3400mhz-3500mhz (100MHz); China Mobile obtained 5g test frequency resources of 2515mhz-2675mhz (160MHz), 4800mhz-4900mhz (100MHz); China Unicom obtained 3500mhz-3600mhz (100MHz) z) 5g test frequency resources. Subsequently, this year, the 700MHz band proposal of China Radio and television was adopted by 3GPP and listed in 5g international standard, becoming the world’s first 5g low frequency band (Sub-1GHz) large bandwidth 5g international standard.

According to the resolution of itu-rwrc-19, the frequency band of 5g millimeter wave is determined for the frequency band above 6GHz. The 24.25ghz-27.5ghz (26ghz), 37ghz-43.5ghz (40GHz) and 66ghz-71ghz band identification will be used in the future development of 5g and international mobile communication system (IMT) worldwide.

Among them, 700MHz, as the “golden band”, has the advantages of low signal transmission loss, strong penetration / diffraction ability, wide coverage, low networking cost, and strong ecosystem blessing. It can better support the communication experience and massive device connection in 5g high-quality wide area coverage and high-speed mobile scenarios, and can complement the medium and high frequency spectrum, Provide suitable 5g network coverage scheme. In order to promote the construction of 700MHz, on July 1, 2020, the Ministry of industry and information technology issued the notice on radio frequency technical requirements of 5g system equipment in medium and low frequency bands, which was officially released and implemented, providing a formal document basis for the technical requirements of five 5g equipment in medium and low frequency bands, including 700MHz.

Tao Hongbo said that in the 700MHz band, there are mainly problems in the adjacent frequency compatibility between 5g system and other systems. It includes broadcast system in 470mhz-702mhz band downward, navigation system in 798mhz-806mhz band upward, Tetra and PDT in 806mhz-821mhz band upward. Therefore, in the construction of 700MHz network, we should focus on three issues. The first is to improve the anti blocking performance of 5g system base station, and reduce the blocking interference of radio and television to 5g system by adopting reasonable station setting mode; the second is to take into account the limited number of navigation stations, and adopt the station by station coordination method to solve the problem according to the actual situation; the third is to standardize the useless transmission index of 5g system base station equipment in the adjacent frequency band, so as to achieve the goal It can effectively reduce the adjacent frequency interference of 5g system to the cluster base station.

In addition, Tao Hongbo revealed that in April 2020, the base station equipment of the 700MHz band 5g system was tested. In terms of 5g equipment model approval, as of the end of November 2020, China has approved 128 base stations with 5g function. Among them, there are six 5g base stations supporting 700MHz band, which are from five base station equipment manufacturers. 307 terminals with 5g function are approved, including 54 5g terminals supporting 700MHz band.

Finally, Tao Hongbo said: “in the future, the radio testing center hopes to work together with industry partners to make scientific and effective use of spectrum resources, and continue to do a good job in the service and support of the industry.”
