No matter in the industrial age, information age, artificial intelligence, or digital age, great evolutionary changes have been taking place in human production tools. At the same time, the evolutionary system of tags is like a companion, and it has never stopped its development. From paper label to bar code, from bar code to two-dimensional code, now comes RFID label. It seems that we can think so. With the progress of the era of science and technology, our life has always been in the development chain of “label era”.
More practically speaking, from the domestic environment, more and more industry fields have begun to apply the new RFID tag technology and put it into daily application. But because of the knowledge of RFID products, many industries that have slightly involved have begun to doubt the advanced nature and necessity of RFID. So today, let’s share and forecast the real advantages of those industries that can’t do without RFID and RFID tags at present and even for quite a long time in the future.
01. Wire management under RFID tag, the position of industrial digital transformation
Industrial wire management may be one of the most popular RFID tags, but its necessity is the strongest. In 1983, such an accident happened in Texas, because there was a tornado season every year in Texas. Once, a tornado disordered thousands of cable cables in a small town. After the accident, the repair of these cables just needed one-to-one correspondence with the cable interface. This not only caused a lot of trouble to the cable repair department in Texas, but also made them repair in the end We can actually find that the cable management problem is very difficult and obvious. Even now, the problem is still not easy to solve.
The first reason is that the use of wires, data cables or other cables has increased dramatically. This data level is not about the surge of cable manufacturing output in regions or countries, but about the amount of cables in the backstage warehouse or cable use area of a unit that are performing the operation function at the same time. If the number of cables used to be in thousands in the background database room, it is now more than 100000, which is a very severe test for cable management. If there are faults and cable function problems, how to find the corresponding cables in 100000 level data cables is a big project.
Second, data reading is a difficulty. Generally speaking, large enterprises, such as electric power group and transportation industry, will be equipped with super level enterprise management ERP or EAM system to help lock the problem area and cable location. However, the disadvantage of this solution is that it is still unable to accurately lock to a certain cable. At this time, we need to go to the fault area manually and use all kinds of readers to detect and lock manually. And this will lead to the second difficulty: there may be multiple cables interweaved on a single device, which will cause misreading, multiple reading and missing reading when reading, so as to miss the discovery of the problem, and even cause greater cost loss.
On this issue, RFID will show its powerful functions and advantages. From the frequency point of view, the current RFID tag technology and product categories are concentrated in high frequency (HF) and ultra high frequency (UHF) bands. The frequency of HF is stable at 13.56MHz, and the frequency of UHF is in the range of 856-928mhz. With the increase of frequency, it means more accurate reading ability, longer reading distance and smaller RFID tag component volume. This is the right medicine for wire management. Engineers only need to install a small RFID tag on the cable, then hold a reader, and then quickly find the corresponding problem cable through the handheld display or LED beacon. At the same time, most of the top rfid tags have metal interference resistance, which can perfectly avoid the problem of reading interference.
From the perspective of other label functions, you can never imagine how bar code and two-dimensional code can manage and cope with this level of industrial management. More importantly, for industrial wire management, it is reasonable to believe that it will be an important territory for the digital transformation of domestic industry, especially manufacturing industry, in the next 5-10 years. “Heavy manufacturing, light management” has always been the domestic manufacturing industry for many years. Of course, because of the domestic and foreign market demand, this is not to blame. However, with the rapid growth of volume level, it is obviously not enough to maintain this state to support the sustainable development trend of large-scale industrial formats. Therefore, how to use digital management tools to improve the utilization efficiency of all aspects of industrial equipment management is bound to be a top priority.
02. “One thing, one code” is a great underestimation and contempt of RFID tags
Some people say that the biggest advantage of RFID tag is to provide absolute “one thing, one code”, which provides irrefutable proof for the anti-counterfeiting and backtracking of retail and logistics industry. For this point of view, my view is that “one thing, one code” may be a great underestimate and contempt for RFID tags. Two dimensional code, bar code, which is not one thing one code? In fact, there are three biggest values of RFID tags in retail and logistics. One is the storage classification of information, the other is the restrictions on reading, and the other is the indelibility of RFID tags.
Before explaining the storage classification, I need to add a premise. Under the rule of v109 version of class1gen2 (G2) protocol, RFID tags generally have four internal storage spaces of information, which are four independent storage blocks: reserved, EPC, TID and user. Reserved is the storage block to store killpassword and accesspassword. In general, it will not release the authority to any party to read. EPC, TID and user play a real role. What are their respective uses?
TID, the official name for the storage tag identification number, you can call it a more representative name “global unique code”. It is this code that provides the only proof of the existence of the RFID tag. It can not be written and modified after leaving the factory. If the tag is unique, the attached product must be unique. This is the principle of anti-counterfeiting. The role of EPC is to provide factory information or original information that can be written by the manufacturer. For example, if you buy a bright black P40 Huawei mobile phone made in Shenzhen in Shanghai, there may be a paragraph in its EPC: szbk40sh, which represents the information just now. In principle, EPC can only be written by the manufacturer, and it follows a record rule, which is decided by the manufacturer, so it provides an absolute technical basis for the original information record of the product. Look at user again. User is a more flexible user-defined number. It provides the possibility that the write permission can still be retained after the product leaves the factory. For manufacturers, because some products are related to transportation, or the confidentiality of product information, it needs more characters to carry the product data information. On the one hand, the storage capacity of EPC is limited, on the other hand, it cannot be changed after leaving the factory, so they will need to get the user number. It should be noted that not all RFID tags have user storage capacity In short, each RFID tag has four storage blocks, but according to the type and function of RFID tags, the user storage capacity of some tags is 0, that is, no data can be written. The separate use and associated use of these three types of memory provide absolute support for the mechanism and possibility of all retail anti-counterfeiting and logistics traceability at present and for a long time in the future.
The second big value is to let go of the restrictions on reading, and put aside the inherent impression of holding a scanner in my mind and reading the product code one by one. The reading scene under RFID tags can become very grand and invisible. For example, the following reading methods:
In terms of improving work efficiency and providing more efficient response speed, RFID tags create advantages that other tags cannot compete with.
The third value is indelibility. This indelibility, in addition to the fact that most of its stored information cannot be modified or written, refers to its encapsulation. From most of the RFID tag application cases and adaptation scenarios, it is not a combination of external fool packaging, but packaged into the product core. This is a good solution to the problem of illegal elements tearing up and smearing anti-counterfeiting code, so that the product information can be truly implanted into the gene of the product itself. For traceability or anti-counterfeiting, without the protection of its own anti-counterfeiting and traceability mechanism, the so-called anti-counterfeiting and traceability is just a marketing means to cheat consumers, and there is no real security to speak of.
03. The medical field is the black horse in the RFID tag application industry
RFID tag applications in the medical field, I will write a separate more detailed article later, here is a rough description of its advantages in the field.
I think the medical field is the most dark horse in the RFID tag application industry. Before COVID-19, the demand was not so strong. However, under the promotion of the new crown epidemic situation, the absolute identification and identification of some drugs, drugs, liquid medicine, surgical instruments and even laboratory tissues are necessary and rigid in the medical and health system.
Perhaps many people have not realized the urgency of this problem. Let’s take nucleic acid detection as a simple example. According to the network data, in some cities in China, such as Beijing, the highest number of nucleic acid samples detected per day is 458000. The highest number of nucleic acid samples detected per day in a single detection unit can reach 17000 with the blessing of the surrounding detection institutions. If the sampling link is mixed according to the ratio of 1:5 of low-risk groups, more than 80000 people can be detected per day. In such a huge detection link, besides the detection equipment and tools, the most urgent problem is the upper limit of personnel and work efficiency. In addition to careful preservation and collection of test specimens, every testing personnel should also carefully and accurately identify, manage, submit, store and accurately retrieve all specimens. But in fact, if these jobs are adapted to the RFID tag function, it is conservatively estimated that the cumulative loss of various costs can be reduced by more than 30%. The operation principle is also relatively simple. Compared with the previous detection methods, the bar code is mainly pasted on the test tube. The bar code records some identity information of the personnel, while the RFID tag detection will package a tag element at the bottom of the test tube. Before the measurement, all the identity information already exists on the element. This advantage is: first, it can be carried out in one step Cost digital sample management, second, if the need for samples or tubes for high temperature disinfection, low temperature preservation and other environmental tests, barcode paper itself is a kind of external interference, not conducive to the detection and research.
The same adaptation scenario occurs in the operating room. In recent years, there are more and more sophisticated surgical tools, which leads to a new absolute standard for surgical tools. For all surgical tools, even the material that can be decomposed by human body, as long as it belongs to the “items to be recycled” in the list of surgical tools, it is necessary to carry out one-to-one and infallible retention confirmation after operation. At the same time, it is also necessary to let the doctor and even the patient know The authenticity and sealing of some disposable medical tools were confirmed before operation. For these tools, because they are often exposed to acidic liquid, high temperature and high pressure, it is not effective to stick bar code or even print bar code. It’s time for RFID to appear again. Taking Murata’s lxtb-010 RFID tag as an example, in addition to anti acid and anti metal interference, it can also work in high temperature and high pressure environment without affecting the work. In the external adaptation scenario, the application requirements of medical equipment have been considered. In this regard, these foreign companies, especially Japanese companies, do have their own foresight and originality. In addition to Murata, Kyocera from Japan, Omni ID from Britain and xraffy from Singapore all have absolute technological advantages in this respect.
Above, I believe that RFID will have a conceptual understanding. There are some opinions on the Internet. Some say that RFID tags only have tens of kilos of memory. Some say that they are technologies made for logistics. Others oppose RFID and NFC. In fact, they do not understand RFID tag technology. Next, I will systematically focus on the value of RFID tags to the medical industry.
