Linear introduced a 16 bit 5msps successive approximation register (SAR) type analog-to-digital converter (ADC) ltc2311-16 with wide rail to rail input common mode range. Ltc2311-16 provides flexible differential input and can accept analog signals up to Nyquist frequency. This can achieve direct conversion of multiple signal types, maintain a good 81.6db signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) at 2.2MHz input signal, and achieve a high common mode rejection ratio (CMRR) of 85dB at the same high-speed input signal.

Instrumentation and medical applications that require channel to channel isolation often use single channel ADCs to isolate front-end circuits separately. Each ADC channel needs its own signal conditioning circuit and isolated power supply.
