Physicians in WellSpan Health, Pennsylvania’s medical system, will now be able to access mobile phone apps using artificial intelligence to help diabetics.

The healthcare system announced a new partnership with sweetch on Wednesday, October 31. Through the partnership, the application will be available to 15000 employees of the system, including 200 primary care and specialists and senior practitioners.

The Sweetch application is a AI digital therapy solution designed to help predict, prevent and improve the prognosis of diabetic patients. The application uses proprietary machine learning algorithms to quantify user risk of diabetes accurately. It also monitors and analyzes users’ personal, environmental and behavioral digital biomarkers to help guide them to achieve disease prevention goals.

Charles chodroff, MD, senior vice president, population health and chief clinical officer of wellspan health, said the hospital plans to use the application to enhance its health assessment process.

Chodroff said in a statement: “Over the years, we have been a leader in developing effective health plans for employees and local businesses, and have been providing detailed personalized assessments to identify chronic disease risk factors. This new smartphone platform will adopt our plans. By providing them with a super personalized tool, we will help them target the people at greatest risk So as to automatically adapt to everyone’s living habits. “

According to CDC data, over 1/3 of adults over the age of 18 in the United States suffer from diabetes, about 84 million people.
