With the development of 5g technology, on the one hand, it can provide more than 1G Internet access speed, at the same time, it can provide millisecond delay, and reach millions of connections within 1 square kilometer. Therefore, based on these technologies, 5g has three application scenarios: one is to enhance the mobile broadband communication service, namely broadband Internet; the other is to enhance the mobile broadband communication service; Second, massive machine communication services, mainly related to the Internet of things; The third is ultra-high reliability and low delay services, which focus on the Internet of vehicles, industrial Internet and other fields.

So, what is 5g broadcasting? As the name suggests, it is based on 5g technology. At present, 5g broadcasting adopts mobile multimedia, multicast technology, that is MBMS.

After the establishment of 3GPP, 3G standard was launched in 2001, 4G standard in 2009 and 5g standard in 2018. In the evolution of these standards, in addition to communication standards, broadcasting technology is also evolving. 5g broadcasting first appeared in 3G era, and rel-4 version proposed multimedia and multicast services. In addition, the performance of 5g broadcasting is compared with that of traditional terrestrial digital TV. In the case of the same megabit ratio performance, such as 16K mode and the same C / N, 5g broadcast data rate loses about 20% – 30% compared with DVB-T2; In 32K mode, the loss is about 30% – 40%. In terms of channel capacity and efficiency, 5g broadcasting is slightly worse than traditional broadcasting because it adds a lot of delay and corresponding error correction measures.

Some functional comparisons between 5g broadcasting and traditional DTT standards, such as SFN networking capability, mobile reception capability, high bit rate transmission under the same C / N, etc.
