Yesterday (20), Lehman optoelectronics announced the launch and mass production of micro led ultra-high definition display with a spacing of 0.79mm and 0.63mm based on cob integrated packaging technology and using the latest pixel engine display technology. The pixel engine display technology adopted this time, through the organic combination of LED chip hardware layout and software algorithm, can greatly improve the resolution of micro LED display screen without significantly increasing the cost.
At present, in the high-end mobile phone display market, AMOLED display has gradually gained advantages in the competition with traditional LCD display, and has become the standard display of high-end mobile phones. AMOLED displays usually use rgbg arrangement and sub-pixel rendering (SPR) algorithm, which can achieve the same resolution with fewer sub pixels.
Micro LED display technology also adopts RGB layout, and micro LED display products based on cob technology can also introduce technologies similar to AMOLED.
In micro LED display technology, RGB LED chips can be arranged arbitrarily due to cob integrated packaging technology. Compared with the RGB layout of conventional micro LED display products, micro LED can achieve higher resolution by using rgbg layout and pixel engine algorithm under the condition of the same display area. Through the arrangement of rgbg, the pixel spacing of the original RGB arrangement is reduced by half. At the same time, by using a set of pixel engine algorithm matching the rgbg arrangement, the pixel resolution is theoretically increased by four times. Therefore, by organically combining the LED chip hardware layout and software algorithm, the resolution of micro LED display screen can be greatly improved without significantly increasing the cost.
It is understood that in July 2019, Lehman optoelectronics launched a point spacing of P0.01 9mm cob micro spacing products and achieved mass production, and also launched the world’s first 324 inch 8K micro led ultra-high definition display based on cob technology; In February 2020, Lehman optoelectronics launched a new generation of ultra-high definition 0.6mm spacing micro led ultra-high definition display based on cob technology. So far, Lehman optoelectronics has achieved mass production of 0.6mm, 0.7mm, 0.9mm, 1.2mm, 1.5mm and 1.9mm point spacing micro led ultra-high definition displays based on cob advanced technology.
According to the analysis of ledinside’s latest display report, the LED display spacing miniaturization trend continues to ferment, attracting many display manufacturers to continue to layout and launch products with smaller spacing. At present, the minimum spacing that can be mass produced has reached P0.05 6mm, estimated by Jibang consulting, P1 in the next few years 2mm-P1. 6mm and ultra small spacing P1 Products below 1mm will have the most growth momentum.
