According to the report on Janes website on March 12, 2020, Japan is developing two advanced anti-ship warheads, named “sea buster” and multiple explosion shaped armor piercing projectile (MEFP), which will be used in two kinds of ultra-high speed gliding projectile (hvgp) and hypersonic cruise missile (HCM).

The “maritime Nemesis” warhead is specially developed for large enemy surface ships. It is composed of a main warhead and a front warhead with conical charge. The main warhead is equipped with high explosive armor piercing warhead and fuse. MEFP warhead can be used to deal with surface ships, fixed and mobile ground targets, and can release dozens of ultra-high speed metal fragments to attack multiple targets.
