A new report released today by Guo Mingxuan, known as the best analyst of Apple mobile phone, shows that Apple’s first rumored headset ar device may be ready in the middle of next year.
According to analysts, Apple’s ar glasses will be sold as iPhone accessories, mainly playing the role of display, and transferring computing, network and positioning functions to iPhone wirelessly. Designing ar glasses as iPhone accessories is also expected to keep it slim and lightweight, rather than trying to integrate all processing hardware into one device.
Analysts believe that Apple’s goal is to start mass production of glasses in the fourth quarter of this year, but he admits that the time frame may be postponed to the second quarter of 2020.
As early as November 2017, Bloomberg reported that apple is developing an AR headset, which is planned to be completed by 2019, but the company may launch this product in 2020. It is reported that this headset will run on a new customized operating system based on IOS and is called “ROS”, which means “real operating system”.
As for patent applications, Apple has been exploring virtual reality and augmented reality technology for more than 10 years. It is also rumored that the company has a secret research department, including hundreds of employees engaged in AR and VR, to explore the application of emerging technologies in Apple products in the future.
Apple CEO Tim Cook has repeatedly talked about the prospect of augmented reality. He believes that AR is “profound” because the technology “enhances human performance rather than isolating human beings”.
