A friend found that during the use of the car, the carbon canister solenoid valve has been clattering. What’s the matter? Is it broken? What are we going to do? Don’t panic! This is normal.

The carbon canister solenoid valve clatters because the carbon canister will produce intermittent switching action when the throttle is opened, which will make a sound. The carbon canister solenoid valve can be wrapped with a sponge (damping plate), which can effectively reduce the sound. If the carbon canister solenoid valve fails, it will affect the operation of the vehicle, so the status of the carbon canister solenoid valve should be checked regularly at ordinary times.

Inspection method of carbon canister solenoid valve:

1. Preheat the vehicle engine to normal temperature and allow the vehicle engine to idle.

2. Pull off the vacuum hose on the steam recovery tank and check whether there is suction. If the vacuum pipe has no suction, the carbon canister solenoid valve will be closed when the engine is idling. If there is suction in the vacuum tube, the canister solenoid valve should be open at this time.

3. Press the accelerator pedal. When the engine speed reaches 2000r / min, check whether the vacuum tube has suction. If there is suction, the system works normally; If there is no suction, use the 20V voltage gear of the multimeter to check whether the solenoid valve has voltage. If the voltage display is normal, it indicates that the solenoid valve is faulty. If the voltage display is abnormal, it indicates that the circuit is faulty.

What’s the matter with the carbon canister solenoid valve sucking in all the time

The failure of solenoid valve will directly affect the action of switching valve and regulating valve. Common failures include the failure of solenoid valve, which should be investigated from the following aspects:

1. If the solenoid valve connector is loose or the wire head falls off, the solenoid valve shall not be powered on, and the wire head can be fastened.

2. If the solenoid valve coil is burnt out, the wiring of the solenoid valve can be removed and measured with a multimeter. If there is an open circuit, the solenoid valve coil is burnt out. The reason is that the coil is damp, resulting in poor insulation and magnetic leakage, resulting in excessive current in the coil and burning. Therefore, it is necessary to prevent rainwater from entering the solenoid valve. In addition, too hard spring, too large reaction force, too few coil turns and insufficient suction can also burn the coil. In case of emergency treatment, turn the manual button on the coil from “0” position to “1” position during normal operation to open the valve.

3. Stuck solenoid valve: the fit clearance between the slide valve sleeve and the valve core of the solenoid valve is very small. It is generally assembled in a single piece. It is easy to get stuck when there are mechanical impurities or too little lubricating oil. The treatment method is to poke the steel wire through the small hole in the head to make it bounce back. The fundamental solution is to remove the solenoid valve, take out the valve core and valve core sleeve for cleaning, so that the valve core can act flexibly in the valve sleeve. During disassembly, pay attention to the assembly sequence and external wiring position of each component, so that the reassembly and wiring are correct. Also check whether the fuel injection hole of the oil mist is blocked and whether the lubricating oil is sufficient.

4. Air leakage: air leakage will cause insufficient air pressure, making it difficult to open and close the forced valve. The reason is that the sealing gasket is damaged or the slide valve is worn, resulting in gas channeling in several cavities. When dealing with the solenoid valve failure of the switching system, select an appropriate time to deal with it when the solenoid valve is in power loss. If the treatment cannot be completed within a switching gap, the switching system can be suspended and handled calmly.
