Intel today released the world’s first FPGA (field programmable array) chip “strtix 10 MX” integrating hbm2 video memory, which can provide a bandwidth of up to 512gb / s, which is a full 10 times higher than that of independent DDR2 video memory.

Intel strtix 10 MX FPGA chip is manufactured by its own 14nm process. Based on the embedded cortex-a53 1.5GHz processor, with the help of Intel’s latest embedded multi bare chip interconnect bridge (emib), it connects four XCVR PCI-E modules and two hbm2 modules, which are encapsulated on the same substrate and designed as a SoC single chip as a whole.

Intel said that this new FPGA can be used as a multi-functional accelerator for high-performance computing, data center, network function Virtualization (nfv), broadcast applications, etc., providing necessary hardware acceleration to meet the needs of super large data transfer and streaming data pipeline.
