Infineon launches new imotion ™ Smartdriver product family imd110,Combined with three-phase grid driver, it provides advantages of high integration and flexibility.

[February 25, 2021, Munich, Germany] Infineon Technologies (FSE: IFX / otcqx: ifnny) launched the new imd110 smartdriver series. The intelligent motor controller series integrates imotion in a compact package ™ Motion control engine (MCE) is combined with three-phase grid driver. Integrated gate driver is based on Infineon’s unique silicon on insulator (SOI) technology, which can drive a series of MOSFET and IGBT in inverter. Using the latest mce2.0, the series offers off the shelf motor and PFC (optional) control. Using MCE to control the motor, customers can focus on their system design. The main target applications of this product series are large household appliances and motors in fans and pumps.

Infineon MCE 2.0, which has been verified in the field, can achieve efficient field oriented control (FOC) in Sensorless or Hall sensor based motor inverters. The wide operating voltage of SOI Gate Drivers is suitable for battery and utility powered motors, and brings market leading durability and reliability. The integrated voltage regulator can realize a variety of power supply schemes, which helps to reduce the material consumption of BOM. According to the requirements of UL / IEC 60730 (class B), imd110 devices have passed the pre certification for applications requiring functional safety.

Supply situation

Imd110 series is suitable for motor drive with and without PFC control. The devices in lqfp-40 package have been mass produced, and they are compatible with LQFP-48 package pins. Through two new control boards of imotion modular application design kit (madk), the rapid prototype design of drive inverter can be realized. Madk is a flexible modular development platform that provides a range of control and power board options for motor drive applications up to 1kW.
