[April 1, 2022, Munich, Germany] billions of people around the world are troubled by sleep problems. Scientific research shows that there are nearly onebillion patients with sleep apnea alone. These patients will have symptoms such as respiratory interruption during sleep at night. This can lead to a variety of health problems, including snoring, daytime fatigue, and even more intractable diseases such as heart disease and diabetes. However, the diagnosis of sleep apnea syndrome is not easy, and patients usually need to be observed in the sleep laboratory. However, in such a stressful environment, the results may be biased.

In order to solve this problem, Infineon Technology Co., Ltd. (fse:ifx/otcqx:ifnny) cooperated with the Swiss digital health technology company sleepiz to launch an easy-to-use home sleep monitoring solution. The solution adopts the xensiv of Infineon ™ Millimeter wave radar technology and the reliable algorithm of sleepiz can be integrated into any networked smart home devices such as smart speakers and bedside lamps, so as to meet the needs of the mass consumer market.

Philipp von schierstaedt, senior vice president and general manager of RF and sensor business of Infineon technology, said: “the xensiv of Infineon ™ Radar sensors can accurately measure vital signs such as heartbeat and respiratory rate without touching human body or infringing privacy, which creates more opportunities for medical and health care applications. Infineon cooperated with sleepiz to develop an innovative sleep monitoring solution. The solution can be integrated into smart home, smart medical and smart health devices to provide extremely accurate detection results. We are happy to help improve people’s sleep and quality of life. “

Dr. soumya sunder dash, CEO and co-founder of sleepiz, added: “With Infineon’s profound technical accumulation and decades of experience in the radar field, and sleepiz’s expertise in analyzing respiratory and sleep related diseases and conditions, we make sleep monitoring easier and provide more accurate data. Infineon and sleepiz work together to bring the technology in the sleep lab to consumers, so that they can freely observe their sleep and health at home. We take We have opened up a new market for accurate home sleep monitoring solutions, and our software helps the general public gain profound medical insights. “

Knowing vital sign data can help millions of patients and doctors detect sleep disorders such as apnea, thereby improving sleep quality. Thanks to xensiv of Infineon ™ Millimeter wave radar technology, relevant vital sign data can be collected through non-contact and anonymous methods, without identifying personnel. Due to the high sensitivity of radar technology, it can detect these data, penetrate various materials (such as blankets), and sense the sub millimeter movement of the personnel closest to the equipment. Relevant data will be analyzed with the machine learning (ML) algorithm provided by sleepiz and stored anonymously in the cloud for users to access.

Sleepiz has conducted many clinical studies with leading medical institutions such as charit é in Berlin and ruhrlandklink in Essen and other sleep research institutions to prove the accuracy of its algorithm. As a manufacturer of medical equipment, sleepiz has been providing doctors in Switzerland and Germany with medical sleep monitoring equipment using Infineon radar technology. Now, the two companies hope to work together to transform the consumer market and integrate their solutions into smart speakers and other smart home devices.
