HuaweiplanCharging royalties for 5g patents
After a period of commercial use of 5g, Huawei began to consider charging 5g patent fees.
At Huawei’s white paper 2020 Conference on innovation and intellectual property, Ding Jianxin, head of Huawei’s intellectual property department, announced Huawei’s charging standard for 5g multi-mode mobile phones: Huawei’s license fee for a single mobile phone that complies with 5g standard is up to US $2.50, and provides a reasonable percentage rate applicable to the price of mobile phones.
Up to now, Huawei has not publicly explained the relevant 5g patent charging standards for non 5g mobile phone companies. However, Huawei expects its intellectual property revenue to be between us $1.2 billion and US $1.3 billion from 2019 to 2021.
It is reported that Huawei will negotiate 5g royalties with mobile phone manufacturers including apple and Samsung.
However, Huawei has only said that it will negotiate with Samsung and apple about 5g charges. Huawei has not yet said whether it will charge domestic mobile phone companies patent fees, and there is no additional patent cost for domestic mobile phones.
Can four operators share 700MHz band
With the convening of the two sessions, the topic of 700MHz co construction and sharing has once again aroused heated discussion. There are different opinions about the four operators sharing the 700MHz network. So, what is the possibility of four operators sharing 700MHz network?
As we all know, 5g construction cost has always been a “heavy stone” in the heart of the industry. Previously, some people in the industry disclosed that the cost of 5g core network in a single city at the initial stage of deployment was about 10-30 million yuan. Under such high construction cost, it seems that only through co construction and sharing can the cost be minimized.
In January this year, the cooperation agreement signed by China Mobile and China Radio and television clearly stipulates that during the first stage of cooperation, China Radio and television will share the 2G / 4G / 5G network of China Mobile Communications for payment to provide services for China Radio and television customers. In the second stage of cooperation, China Radio and television paid to share the 2.6GHz network of China mobile communication to provide services for China Radio and television customers. Will China Unicom and China Telecom have another chance to participate in 700MHz sharing under the regulations already formulated by China Mobile and China Radio and television?
Whether the four operators can share the 700MHz frequency band is still uncertain. But both operators and ordinary users hope to build a 5g network with stable signal and easy to use. In the future, the development trend of 700MHz band needs further negotiation among operators and specific regulation by government regulatory authorities.
