By the end of June this year, more than 700000 5g base stations had been built in the world, and more than 90 million users had been covered by 5g services. Yesterday, Huawei’s rotating chairman Guo Ping disclosed the news at the 2020 win-win future global online summit.
Guo Ping introduced that by June this year, 81 operators around the world had deployed 5g commercial networks, covering countries and regions accounting for about 72% of the global GDP, including major economies in Europe and the Asia Pacific region.
On the same day, Huawei disclosed that up to now, global operators have deployed more than 700000 5g base stations, which is expected to exceed 1.5 million by the end of the year.
Guo Ping believes that in the next stage, global 5g will develop various industrial applications and release the network dividends brought by 5g. However, according to his analysis, only by unifying industry standards and jointly building ecology in the future can we better realize the large-scale development of 5g.
Through 5g and other information and communication technologies, this year’s science and technology war “epidemic” has also played a great role in nine scenarios. Guo Ping said that this includes hospital network construction, remote consultation, drug research and development, epidemic control, 5g + medical treatment, 5g + education, quantitative analysis of medical images, government command and dispatching and resumption of work and production of enterprises.
It is reported that under the influence of the epidemic, a large number of shelter hospitals have been set up all over the world, but there is always a shortage of high-quality doctors. However, with the support of 5g technology, 5g new applications have emerged one after another. Huawei disclosed that, for example, in February this year, Wuhan urgently built a shelter hospital with about 300 beds. With the help of 5g network, a medical expert in Zhejiang can do ultrasound examination for patients in the shelter hospital more than 700 kilometers away in real time. In only 15 minutes, the patient’s lung lesions can be seen at a glance. In fact, 5g technology makes doctors and patients close to each other although they are thousands of miles away. Guo Ping believes that the combination of 5g technology and medical treatment, including ECG, pathology and imaging, will also effectively drive the maximization of the value of medical resources in the future.
Moreover, 5g is also the cornerstone of urban digitization. With the help of Huawei, operators in xiong’an, Hebei have now built more than 7400 5g base stations, which are closely combined with urban planning, and launched a 5g based Heaven Earth integrated ecological monitoring system, even including driverless express cars, buses and taxis.
Guo Ping revealed that in the future, 5g innovative applications such as automatic driving can be expected to be realized through vehicle road cooperation on the nearly 100 km expressway from Beijing to xiong’an.
Huawei also predicts that in the future, operators will not only focus on 5g network construction, but also start to participate in urban services through 5g + edge computing + cloud + front-end equipment access. The 5g has a high adaptability of front-end facilities, which can not only adapt to the large bandwidth of camera applications, but also adapt to the low delay requirements of radar speed measurement, which will make its application prospect very wide.
