As one of the core of the new infrastructure, the huge value of 5g network has become increasingly prominent, which has become a key driving force to promote the development of national economy, society, science and technology. At present, countries all over the world are vigorously promoting the construction and deployment of 5g, of which 5g spectrum auction is an important node for a country to achieve 5g commercial. Recently, the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) launched 5g spectrum auction. Analysts expect that the final price of this auction can reach as high as $50 billion.
In addition to the United States, many countries have launched their own 5g spectrum auction plans in 2020. Of course, some countries delayed the auction because of the impact of the epidemic or other reasons. According to relevant information, the postponement of auctions was mainly concentrated in March and April this year, when many countries were suffering from severe epidemic impact.
Due to the high importance of 5g, many countries overcame difficulties and successfully completed the auction, especially some European countries. From the specific data of global 5g spectrum auction in 2020, European countries are also the “protagonists” of 5g spectrum auction. Incomplete statistics are made on the countries that have conducted 5g spectrum auctions this year as follows:
