The function of MCU
The processing functions of MCU mainly include:
(1) Audio signal bridging. Mixing the audio signals sent by each terminal is usually called bridging, and then sending them back to each terminal; or selecting one channel of signal to send to other terminals is usually called switching. The mode of selection can be to transmit each signal in turn (polling), to transmit only the main venue signal, or to control the signal switching by the chairman, etc.
(2) Video signal switching or mixing. Polling and chairman control are used to send a certain channel of video signal to each terminal; voice excitation can also be used to switch, and the speaker’s image can be sent to each participant. In recent years, MCU can combine multiple images into a multi window picture and send it to participants through a channel.
(3) Data switching. The data involved in the meeting is processed in a similar way to audio or video signals.
(4) Meeting control. The control of voice, shared devices (such as cameras, whiteboards) and related communication control.
The role of MCU
The primary function of video conference MCU is the carrier of data and information processing. Why is the video conference server coming out now? The concept is easier to understand than the video conference MCU. In fact, the video conference MCU is also the video conference server, which is the carrier of the whole video conference system.
Video conference MCU is responsible for data transmission, whether it is audio, video or screen demonstration interaction in video conference, it needs to be processed by video conference MCU, that is, video conference server, and then send the signal source to the participants all over the world.
The video conference MCU is responsible for the data encryption transmission center in the process of video conference, and the data receiving and sending center is the video conference MCU. Responsible for synchronous transmission of audio and video and data interaction.
Of course, video conference MCU also has the function of managing various parameters of video conference, such as the definition of video conference, the bandwidth limitation of video conference, the number of video conference and so on.
