Affected by the epidemic prevention and control and the resumption of work and production, the domestic mobile phone market declined significantly in January. According to the latest data released by China Academy of information technology, the total domestic mobile phone market shipment in January was 20.813 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 38.9%; the domestic brand mobile phone shipment was 18.319 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 42.9%. 5g and folding screen will become the two most important keywords in 2020. CITIC Securities also predicts that the shipment of folding screen mobile phones will exceed 5.2 million in 2020 and 50 million in 2025.

At present, the mainstream of the market is up and down and horizontal unfolding. Motorola and Samsung have launched flip folding screen mobile phones one after another, striving to make the folding screen smaller. Huawei’s Matex still continues the design concept of folding as mobile phone and unfolding as tablet. Each of the two styles has its own advantages, but the larger screen is adapting to more application and interaction scenarios after the advent of 5g.

The latest Samsung Galaxy Z flip and the moto Razr folding mobile phone released in November 2019 have the same up and down folding design, changing the shape of the mobile phone to make it smaller. The appearance of large screen is to serve for better display effect, and then realize more functions on tablet or PC. As early as November 2018, Shenzhen Technology Company Ruoyu launched the world’s first foldable flexible screen mobile phone, flexpai, which officially announced the introduction of flexible screen into the mobile phone industry and brought a new large screen experience. However, due to the incomplete preparation of production capacity and quantification, there is no update at present.

The significance of large screen is to better integrate into the new interactive experience. The new multi window interaction makes the application experience on Huawei’s Matex better. It is understood that Huawei mate XS is more inclined to add lightweight office, social and other attributes to the folding screen mobile phone ecosystem. According to Huawei, users can switch the folding screen between the mobile phone and the tablet as needed. Through parallel view, users can open two-level interfaces of an application at the same time. When multiple applications are running, two applications can be displayed separately and run independently. Pictures, text, videos and other files can also be dragged between applications, and a third application can be opened through the split screen shortcut bar.

In the 5g market, there will be new application scenarios, and “ecology” will become a new competitive point in the future mobile phone market. At present, the stability of the global app store and ecological closed-loop has always existed, and it is difficult to obtain better industry growth effect in it. Therefore, Huawei also proposed its own ecosystem, mobile service HMS core, and app Gallery, which presents a new look to the world. Yu Chengdong, CEO of Huawei’s consumer business, said that Huawei’s appgallery app store has covered 170 countries and regions around the world, with more than 400 million monthly live users, including 55000 apps. At present, Huawei is also promoting the adaptation and improvement of interactive experience from small screen to large screen, and creating an open ecological alliance of folding screen applications. In the future, interaction scenarios will become more diversified. Switching between large and small screens may become a new mainstream, and feeding the mobile phone industry through ecology may also become a new game among brands.
