Diodes Company (Diodes Incorporated) introduced two drivers ULN2003V12 and ULN2003F12. The ULN2003V12 is a seven-channel relay and inductive load current sinking driver that directly replaces industry standard devices and reduces power consumption by a factor of twelve. The ULN2003F12 is a four-channel version that reduces the footprint when driving low-voltage stepper motors that require fewer output channels.

The ULN2003V12 and ULN2003F12 support CMOS logic inputs from 3.3V to 5V, making them compatible with a wide variety of microcontrollers and logic devices. They also integrate input RC buffer circuits and internal input stage pull-down resistors, the former effectively improving performance under noisy operation, and the latter simplifying the workflow of tri-state input logic. The new devices also feature low output impedance drivers to minimize on-chip power consumption while supporting output pull-up voltages up to 20V. Both devices offer supply current as low as 25µA per channel and excellent 4kV ESD Human Body Model test performance for industrial applications.

One of the main features of the ULN2003V12 and ULN2003F12 devices is that each output is connected to the COM pin through an internal freewheeling diode for a common cathode configuration. This feature improves current draw by paralleling several adjacent channels. For example, when the seven channels of the ULN2003V12 are connected in parallel, the device can typically handle a load current of 1A. Both products are packaged in tiny packages that help reduce board space requirements. ULN2003V12 is available in SO-16 and TSSOP-16 package options; ULN2003F12 is available in U-DFN3030-10 package.
