The tsl2585 of Ames OSRAM corresponds to the UV channel, which can detect the UV-A radiation in natural light and remind the user when the UV-A radiation is excessive. This sensor is extremely compact, so it is very suitable for space limited wearable applications and other mobile applications.
Although the earth’s atmosphere can block the UV-C part of sunlight, UV-A and UV-B radiation can reach the earth’s surface. Among them, UV-A radiation accounts for about 90% of the ultraviolet components reaching the earth’s surface, and can penetrate deeply into the lower skin layer of the skin. In some cases, it will have a serious impact on health, such as weakening connective tissue, accelerating skin aging, increasing the risk of skin cancer, etc. By using the new ambient light sensor of Ames OSRAM, smart watch users can receive an immediate warning when the UV-A radiation value in the environment is too high.

They can provide necessary information for indoor and outdoor identification, UV index calculation and environmental illumination detection. In addition, the photodiode of tsl2585 adopts a unique off center arrangement, so that it can support the narrow frame design.
Tsl2585 integrates the light source flicker detection function and is equipped with three modulators with sampling rates up to 14khz. By providing illumination and ambient light stroboscopic information to the mobile phone camera, it can support the rapid automatic exposure of the smartphone camera and eliminate the ripple effect caused by the ambient lighting stroboscopic.
It uses an ultra flat package with a compact size of only 2.0 mm x 1.0 mm x 0.35 mm. It is suitable for space-saving system design and helps manufacturers design extremely compact equipment. The working voltage of this sensor is 1.8V and the current when it is not working is only 0.7 µ a.
