Design Overview:

The ZigBee part of this reference design adopts the em35x chip of silicon labs, which is based on arm ® Cortex ®- The ZigBee SOC series of M3 provides unparalleled performance, power consumption and code density in a compact package. Em35x series combines a 2.4 GHz IEEE 802.15.4 radio transceiver with powerful network level debugging function supported by hardware. These devices and tools, combined with the powerful ecosystem of arm tools, enable OEMs to simplify the development process and shorten time to market. Em35x SOC is closely integrated with emberznet pro, supports mesh and star networks, supports intermediate routing and forwarding functions, and is a mesh network software that meets ZigBee requirements. It is also the most widely deployed ZigBee platform in the market.

The Bluetooth part of this reference design adopts the ble module bgm111 of silicon labs, embedded Bluetooth smart module, pre loaded Bluetooth 4.1, which can be upgraded to 4.2 and higher. The internally integrated high-efficiency antenna can ensure the consistency of RF design and operation, and the linear communication distance is conservatively 150m to 200m.

System block diagram:

This demonstration board is composed of 4 modules, which are respectively composed of:

● gateway: Bluetooth module bgm111 + EM357 coordinator demo

● router 1: light, which can be bound with end device

● router 2: light, which can be extended to other types of equipment

● end device: it can be controlled through gateway or route, such as light control switch, dimming function, etc

● route control: the gateway controls the terminal through route 1. If Route 1 fails to work, the terminal can be controlled through route 2

Functional features:

● integrate the characteristics of ble Bluetooth module and ZigBee module to realize the communication between mobile phone and node

● realize the demonstration of ZigBee ad hoc network, light control and binding functions, and realize the information interaction between ZigBee network and Bluetooth

● the demonstration package can be plugged in to complete the demonstration, and can also be powered by battery to complete the demonstration.

● working current: Rx 26ma; TX 31mA

● RF performance: TX + 3dbm, PA + 8dbm, RX – 102dbm (1% per)

● security: security mechanism aes128 encryption engine

● Bluetooth 4.1 is preloaded and can be upgraded to version 4.2 and later

● Bluetooth communication distance 100m+
