On March 30, Xu Kemin, director of the Department of industrial policies and regulations of the Ministry of industry and information technology, said at the press conference of the joint prevention and control mechanism of the State Council held this morning that as of March 29, China’s major ventilator enterprises had supplied more than 27000 sets. Among them, there are more than 3000 invasive ventilators.

He said that the epidemic is spreading rapidly in the world, and the demand for medical equipment abroad is also growing rapidly. In particular, there is a great demand for invasive ventilators.

At present, there are 21 manufacturers of creative ventilators in China, of which 8 have obtained the EU compulsory CE certification for their main products, accounting for about one fifth of the global production capacity, and have signed orders for about 20000 sets. At the same time, there are a large number of international orders in negotiation every day.

According to incomplete statistics, in just 10 days since March 19, while ensuring domestic demand, Chinese enterprises have urgently provided more than 1700 invasive ventilators to foreign countries, up to half of the total domestic supply since this year.

Data show that invasive ventilator is a kind of ventilator, also known as multi-functional ventilator. It is used to support the respiration of human body or other animals when the spontaneous respiration of organism can not meet the normal physiological needs.

The clinical application of invasive ventilator can be divided into three categories. One is mainly respiratory diseases, including pulmonary infection, atelectasis, asthma, pulmonary edema, which affect the function of pulmonary gas exchange. At this time, the treatment of ventilator mainly improves the pulmonary gas exchange, increases the blood oxygen concentration and eliminates carbon dioxide.

The second type is mainly surgery, which is conducive to the recovery of anesthesia, maintenance of normal respiratory function, reduction of respiratory muscle movement and reduction of oxygen consumption.

And the third type is to sleep apnea for use, through a certain pressure to solve the upper airway blockage.
