San Francisco, April 23 – yesterday, China’s first commercial aerospace space laser communication experiment was a complete success. The experiment is based on Beihang aviation satellite 1 developed by Tianyi Research Institute. The satellite is equipped with a subminiature laser communication terminal sg10-1 independently developed by Nanjing Yingtian optics. The satellite was successfully launched into orbit on November 6, 2020, and laser docking was realized for the first time on December 3.
 

 
Officials said that by April 2021, relying on the high attitude control accuracy (0.01 °), high attitude stability (0.0015 ° / s) and long-term stable operation ability of Beihang aerospace Satellite-1, Beihang aerospace Satellite-1 had carried out more than 50 satellite ground laser data transmission tests under various climatic conditions, and the down transmission speed of laser communication data to ground stations reached 10 ~ 100Mbps, successfully completing the comprehensive evaluation of beam acquisition and tracking performance On orbit verification tasks of a number of key technologies, such as analysis of the impact of atmospheric turbulence on communication and down transmission of satellite remote sensing image business data.
 
This is the first time that China’s commercial aerospace team has successfully realized Tiandi laser communication. It is also the fourth unit in China to complete the on orbit verification and the only private enterprise. It marks that private aerospace forces have made a zero breakthrough in the field of space laser communication and are expected to participate in the construction of China’s National Satellite Internet in the future.
 
Satellite laser communication system has the advantages of small terminal volume, light weight and low power consumption. It is the main development direction of space communication link. Sg10-1 ultra small laser communication terminal is the first laser communication load developed by Yingtian optics for the application needs of space-based narrow-band Internet of things. It is also the smallest (0.7u), lightest (0.75kg) and lowest power consumption (7W) laser communication terminal in China’s history, which has been successfully verified by heaven.
 

 
It is understood that Beihang Aerospace Satellite 1 adopts a new generation of 20kg satellite platform independently developed by Tianyi Research Institute. It has the characteristics of excellent attitude control index, low platform load ratio, high-capacity energy storage, intelligent temperature control and variable heat dissipation. It realizes the ultimate cost performance, can meet the requirements of all kinds of high-power and high-precision loads, and can provide strong support for the loads.
 
The success of the laser satellite ground test of Beihang aviation satellite No. 1 marks a great leap forward in the development ability of Tianyi’s high-performance small satellite. In the future, Tianyi Research Institute will continue to help Yingtian optics carry out technical verification tests such as data security, remote confidentiality and data forwarding, so as to jointly promote the development of heaven earth integrated information network.
