It is an indisputable fact that LCD is being abandoned by smart phones, and Chinese mobile phone manufacturers are increasingly using OLED mobile phones.
According to the latest report of UBI research, China has become the largest buyer of OLED display panels for smart phones in the second quarter of this year, accounting for 52.5% of the total. South Korea, by contrast, accounted for 35% in the second quarter of this year. The US, on the other hand, managed to get 8.3% of the total. Companies from China have purchased about 30.4 million OLED panels in total.
For Chinese mobile phone manufacturers, Huawei purchased the most OLED screens, accounting for 53.4% of the total, followed by oppo, vivo and Xiaomi, accounting for 18.6%, 14.8% and 8.3% respectively.
The report pointed out that China’s OLED panel manufacturers will continue to increase production in the future. Compared with LCD panel, OLED is the first choice because of its thin, light shape and better color performance. Another major factor is the flexible display size of OLED, which enables manufacturers to carry out innovative design.
Along with leading smartphone brands such as Samsung, Huawei and apple, other companies such as oppo, vivo and Xiaomi are increasingly using OLED panels in their smartphones.
