According to foreign media Apple insider, a patent of Apple’s surround screen has recently been disclosed, which means that the iPhone in the future may be equipped with a surround screen with a high proportion of screen.
In Apple’s patent, “electronic device with convex display,” the company said it could add a flexible display layer on top of a curved overlay or on the concave side of a rigid convex display overlay. Touch sensors can be stacked on top or below the flexible display layer, depending on the structure.
The patent also shows that the display can be made of flexible OLED or LCD panel, the rigid cover or shell can be made of glass material, and the reinforcement layer can be made of metal. In addition, the display portion may utilize a flexible polymer substrate material.
Compared with other patent applications related to the design of smart phones, this patent seems to have few details on the actual manufacturing of panels. The patent is more about how to design a display to support the concept of a smart phone or mobile device with a ring body.
