Whether it’s the era of functional phones more than ten years ago, the era of smart phones now, or the coming 5g era, the security of devices has always been a hot topic. Two years ago, Apple’s iPhone x won the hearts of many Apple fans with its unique ID design. It is from this generation of iPhone that the home key, which has been used for many years, has disappeared. At the same time, fingerprint identification is a stranger to Apple’s mobile phone, and “face ID” has replaced it as the symbol of the new iPhone.

Compared with apple, some Android phones have found the best of both worlds solutions in recent years. Xiaomi digital series and Huawei mate series not only carry 3D face recognition technology with the same security as face ID, but also place the fingerprint recognition function at the bottom of the screen. BOE’s breakthrough in LCD screen fingerprint technology makes screen fingerprint identification no longer a “patent” of OLED.

Apple may issue a new screen fingerprint technology patent in 2020

Although face ID is more secure, more than 65% of users think fingerprint unlocking is more attractive to them, because fingerprint unlocking is more convenient than face unlocking. However, more than 90% of the users hope that the mobile phone can support face and fingerprint unlocking at the same time. The reason is just like the toy Dragon said, “I can’t use it, but you can’t do it without it.”.

But in the past two years, Apple’s new iPhone has been sticking to face ID, just like a boyfriend in sage mode, not mentioning fingerprint identification. A few days ago, it was revealed that apple is working on a full screen fingerprint identification scheme. If this technology is mature, fingerprint identification will return to iPhone.

However, this technology may not be first used on the iPhone, and the first screen fingerprint identification technology will be used in the next generation of Apple watch. It is reported that in the second quarter of last year, apple applied for a patent named “wrist band antenna module”, which showed that Apple wanted to extend the communication antenna of Apple watch all the way to the watch strap, so as to make more space for screen fingerprint identification module.
