ADI’s aducm360 is a 24 bit data acquisition system solution, which integrates two multi-channel 24 bit sigma delta ADC, 32-bit arm cortex m3 MCU and flash / EE memory. It can directly interface with external precision sensors. Full differential input, ADC output rate (4 Hz to 4 kHz), and 50 Hz / 60 Hz suppression, mainly used in industrial automation and process control, intelligent precision sensor system, 4-20 mA loop intelligent sensor system, medical equipment and patient monitoring. This paper introduces the main features, outline drawing of aducm3360 and the main features, circuit diagram and PCB layout of aducm360 / 361 evaluation board.

Aducm360 is a fully integrated 4 ksps, 24 bit data acquisition system, which integrates dual high-performance multi-channel sigma delta( Σ-Δ) Analog to digital converter (ADC), 32-bit arm cortex M3 ® MCU, and flash / EE memory on a single chip. The device is designed for direct connection to external precision sensors in wired and battery powered applications.

Aducm361 contains all the features of aducm360, except that the main ADC ADC0 is not available – only the auxiliary ADC ADC1 is available.

The device consists of an on-chip 32 kHz oscillator and an internal 16 MHz high frequency oscillator. The clock is routed through a programmable clock divider, which generates the working frequency of the MCU core clock. The maximum core clock speed is 16mhz, which is not limited by the working voltage or temperature.

The microcontroller core is the low power Cortex-M3 core of arm. It is a 32-bit RISC computer that provides peak performance of up to 20 MIPs. Cortex-M3 MCU integrates a flexible 11 channel DMA controller to support all wired (SPI, UART, I2C) communication peripherals. 128K byte nonvolatile flash / EE and 8K byte SRAM are also integrated on the chip.

The analog subsystem consists of two ADCs, each connected to a flexible Input Mux. Both ADCs can work in fully differential and single ended mode. Other functions of on-chip ADC include dual programmable excitation current source, burn-out current source and avdd_ Reg / 2 (900mv) bias voltage generator is used to set the common mode voltage of the input channel. A low side internal ground switch is provided to allow the bridge between transitions to be de energized. The ADC consists of two parallel filters – sinc3 or sinc4 and sinc2 in parallel. Sinc3 or sinc4 filters are used for accurate measurement. Sinc2 filter is used to measure and detect step change in input signal quickly. The device also contains a low noise, low drift internal bandgap voltage reference, or can be configured to accept up to two external references in a ratio measurement configuration. An option to buffer external reference input is also provided. The single channel buffer voltage output chip also provides a DAC. Aducm360 / aducm361 also integrates a series of on-chip peripherals, which can be configured under the control of microcontroller software according to the application requirements. These peripherals include UART, I2C and dual SPI serial I / O communication controller, 19 pin GPIO port, two universal timers, wake-up timer and system watchdog timer. A 16 bit PWM with six output channels is also provided.

Aducm360 / aducm361 is designed for battery powered applications requiring low power consumption. The microcontroller core can be configured to consume 290 μ A / MHz normal operation mode (including flash / SRAM IDD), resulting in a total system current consumption of 1mA when all peripherals are active.

The device can also be configured for a variety of low-power operation modes under direct program control, including only 4 μ Sleep mode of a (internal wake-up timer is valid). In sleep mode, a peripheral device (such as an external interrupt or an internal wake-up timer) can wake up the device. This enables the device to operate in ultra-low power operation mode and still respond to asynchronous external or periodic events.

Factory on chip firmware supports on-line serial download through serial line interface (2-pin JTAG system) and UART, and also supports non intrusive simulation through serial line interface. These functions have been integrated into the low-cost QuickStart development system supporting the precision analog microcontroller series.

The device is powered by an external 1.8V to 3.6V power supply with a rated temperature range of – 40 ℃ to 125 ℃.
