On December 29, 2020, Chen Xi, deputy director of science and technology management department and director of Youth Innovation Center of COMAC Shanghai Aircraft Manufacturing Co., Ltd., and his party visited Zhejiang hydrogen Aviation Technology Co., Ltd. and had in-depth exchanges with the company’s team.

The guests first introduced the organizational structure of COMAC and the positioning of the Youth Innovation Center in COMAC. Then the two sides discussed the advantages and characteristics of hydrogen fuel cell as aviation power, reviewed the first case of European EASA electric aircraft certification, and sorted out the existing domestic and international standards of hydrogen fuel cell. The guests agreed that: with the implementation of the European aviation carbon emission target, hydrogen fuel cells will gradually transform from small manned aircraft to medium and large aircraft applications in the near future, and the prospect is worth looking forward to.

The guests investigated in detail the low-temperature test of hydrogen powered UAV, self-developed fuel cell test bench, distributed hydrogen power technology, high altitude fuel cell, high-efficiency electrical bypass and other technologies and applications, and were full of vision for the future application of hydrogen fuel cell in aviation. Director Chen and his party are very sure of the in-depth exploration of hydrogen airlines in the field of hydrogen powered aviation, and the two sides will carry out a series of cooperative research and development in this field in the near future.
