Honeywell and Donghua Energy to build sustainable aviation fuel production base
February 28, 2022 – Honeywell (Nasdaq: HON) and Donghua Energy Co., Ltd. (Shenzhen Stock Exchange: 002221) recently jointly announced that they will build an annual production capacity of 100 meters in Maoming City, Guangdong Province. 10,000 tons of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production base to help meet the growing demand for sustainable fuel in the aviation industry, promote carbon emission reduction in the aviation industry through innovative technologies, and help China’s “carbon peak” and “carbon neutrality” goals. accomplish.
The Donghua Energy Sustainable Aviation Fuel Industry Base Project will build two production units using kitchen waste oil and animal fat as raw materials. The project is planned to be constructed in two phases, and upon completion, it will become one of the world’s largest production bases for sustainable aviation fuel using kitchen waste oil and animal fat as raw materials. Compared with traditional fuels, the use of kitchen waste oil and animal fat as raw materials can reduce life-cycle greenhouse gas emissions by about 80%. After the project is completed, it will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by about 2.4 million tons per year.
“Sustainable aviation fuel is an important and feasible plan to reduce emissions in the aviation industry. The project of Donghua Energy’s sustainable aviation fuel production base is of great significance to the emission reduction of the aviation industry.” Chairman of Fuji Investment (Group) Co., Ltd., Donghua Energy Co., Ltd. Wang Mingxiang, the actual controller of the company, said, “We are very happy to open a new chapter of cooperation with Honeywell, combining the foundation of the existing petrochemical industry chain to build a new green petrochemical industrial production base, and realize the mass production of sustainable aviation fuel in China. Contribute to the reduction of aviation industry emissions and the achievement of China’s ‘dual carbon’ target.”
