Looking back on the development process, Zhai Yunkai told reporters that from the early teleconsultation center to today’s national telemedicine center, the scale of telemedicine of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University has also developed from one room to one building. Since 2012, we have gradually got rid of the situation that we have equipment but no business. At the same time, the project team has developed from the initial 3 people to the current 40 people. One of the most important factors in the development of telemedicine is the upgrading of communication mode.
In 1996, the teleconsultation center of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University carried out medical consultation through telephone connection. With the emergence of instant messaging tools, teleconsultation can carry out video communication. However, according to Zhai Yunkai, the first two stages of medical consultation still stay at the level of language description, even though face-to-face communication is achieved through video, There is still a lack of quality and data diversity in the transmission of text data through scanners. With the introduction of professional video conference system with China Mobile in 2011 and the construction of mobile dedicated line, telemedicine has entered the third stage, and the video quality has been guaranteed.
“However, the transmission of video system is not comprehensive, and the medical consultation data cannot be retained.” Zhai Yunkai said that the real starting point of telemedicine is to enter the fourth stage of development. Henan Mobile plans to build a network, relying on the computer room to build a data platform. At this stage, video conference has become an auxiliary, and data exchange is the key node to serve people’s livelihood in medical informatization.
With the iteration of communication technology, mobile network is more important for the development of medical industry. Zhai Yunkai stressed that in emergency rescue, a life can be saved in five seconds. The 5g network with large bandwidth, low delay and high security appropriately meets the above requirements. It is understood that in the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, there is an ambulance that has been refitted several times. 5g network signal is connected in the ambulance, and the bandwidth rate is stable, which can well cooperate with the emergency rescue team.
“Because there is no precedent to refer to, we have basically stepped on every pit.” Zhai Yuankai spoke frankly about the work experience of the team. Since 2016, Zhai Yunkai’s team has focused on the 5g concept and applied for related science and technology projects with Henan Mobile. In August 2018, the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University and Henan Mobile built 5g medical experimental network relying on the National Engineering Laboratory and started 5g medical application research. So far, the 5g medical application demonstration project in Henan Province officially started.
In September 2018, Henan Mobile immediately carried out the base station construction in the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, and soon realized the coverage of the ward. At the same time, experiments and tests of various scenes were carried out. In January this year, Henan Mobile launched the construction of 5g medical experimental network covering the east hospital area of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University. On March 15, 30 5g base stations of the 5g experimental network of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, a 5g application demonstration project of the national development and Reform Commission, were opened, marking the completion of the construction of the first 5g medical experimental network in China.
Subsequently, a number of 5g medical applications such as remote B-ultrasound, robot ward round and remote consultation in the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University have aroused strong attention at the national level. Not only the “cool” operation technology, but also the 5g network slicing technology ensures the stability of the network and puts on the “armor” for the security of medical information.
Taking a comprehensive view of the development of this field, it is no doubt that Henan Province has the leading advantage, and the current parties have not stopped. Zhai Yunkai told reporters that after the noise, we need more rational thinking. 5g + medical has a long way to go. In the future, 5g network will not only play a role in teaching, scientific research and clinical field, but also make great achievements in personal health and family health, But at the same time, there is still a lack of relevant industry standards. At present, the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University and Henan Mobile also have higher-level stations to consolidate experimental data, ensure smooth, stable and safe network, and strive to make 5g + medical industry standard come from Henan.
